Seven members of a Counterfiet currency gang arrested

Thiruvananthapuram City police have arrested seven members of a counterfeit currency gang that operated in coastal regions in the city. While five of the accused are based in the city, one hailed from Sivakasi in Tamil Nadu. The gang had been operating in coastal regions in the city, circulating fake currency notes of denomination 500 among unsuspecting fisher folks. Their arrest was recorded at Peroorkada police station. Among the accused, Stephen, Ravi, John and Lakshmanan were accused in cases related to the same offence in the past too. Lakshmanan was involved in printing of fake notes in Sivakasi whereas others procured the notes from him and circulated among people here. All accused were produced before the court and were remanded in judicial custody.

'Alter Ego' of city police Reins in altered vehicles

In a bid to prevent to road accidents owing to increase in the racing instinct of youths, the Thiruvananthapuram City Police have conducted a surprise inspection titled 'Alter Ego' on 28.11.2017 and seized around 50 vehicles. The surprise check was held after reports thath many youths in the city were altering their vehicles to increase the power and speed.

The altered vehicles often get involved in accidents and this prompted the law enforces to take strict action against the offenders. Such vehicles also create a nuisance to the public. The inspections have been conducted at Fort, Medical College, Vellayambalam, Kowdiar, Enchakkal bypass, Vanchiyoor, Pettah, Museum, Karamana, Poojappura, Mannanthala, Vizhinjam, Kovalam and Vattiyoorkavu. The offenders were subjected to an awareness session and imposed fine on them.

Accused arrested by Museum Police

Accused arrested for propagating defamatory comment on Social media against legislative assembly Speaker and Chief Minister. The arrested person has been identified as Shajumon, a resident of Moovattupuzha. The accused had earlier posted abusive and defamatory content on social media against other political parties and leaders. He had also been imprisoned for one and a half years in connection with the sale of ganja.

The City police have busted an interstate racket involved in car thefts using high-tech gadgets, raising concerns regarding the vulnerability of vehicle security systems. Two persons, identified as Parameswaran, 37, of Madurai, and Muhammed Mubarak, alias ‘Thakkaali’ Mubarak, 26, of Tiruchirappalli, have been arrested by a Shadow police wing from Chennai in an investigation that got under way after the sleuths identified a striking similarity in multiple cases of thefts reported recently. Seven vehicles, all belonging to a particular brand and model, were stolen from various parts of the thiruvananthpauram city.

This led the investigating team to stumble upon lesser-known electronic devices that could apparently be used to crack security systems embedded in certain new-generation cars. This gang have stolen 22 vehicles from across the State. Besides Thiruvanantha-puram, 13 vehicles were allegedly stolen from the Thrissur Rural police limits, and one each from Palakkad and Malappuram. The gang has been involved in organised crime and is believed to have been active in several States, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra.

Medical college police station and District Legal authority jointly conducted a mega adalath on 13.10.2017 at Medical College PS and resolved lot of petitions and cases.

Janamaithri Programme

Comprising 84 residence association jointly undertaken various helping hand programmes like 'Pothichoru' to the bystanders at Govt. Hospital, Karamana and 'Puthuvasthram' during Kerala Piravi and 'Onam kit' during Onam festival to the poor and needy. Karmana police station also conducted a Medical Camp for senior citizen.

Vizhinjam Coastal Police rescued four fishermen from sea

An information received this station from the Police Control Room, Tvpm city, around 6PM on 09/06/2017, that one fisherman has been fell in the sea near Poonthura, Cheriyamuttom. It was also informed that other three fishermen who jumped into the sea to rescue the fisherman are also in danger. The boat patrolling party who were on routine patrolling at Kovalam area was directed for rescue operation. The patrolling team rushed to the spot and rescued the four fishermen. Jerald age-34, S/o Jerom , Poonthura native, was the fisherman who fell in the sea accidently who was standing near the shore. Victor, age-57 S/o Alias, Shalon, age-24, S/o Clement and Joseph age-29, S/o Nazarath were the fishermen who jumped in to the sea to rescue the above fisherman. Due to the rough sea they were not in a position to swim back to the shore. The rescued four fishermen were taken to Costal police station Vizhinjam and handed over to their relatives. The boat patrolling team GASI-Jayakumar and GASI-Rajendran along with boat crews Fernandes (Boat Syrang), Dickson (Marine Home Guard), Chrisantius , Home Guard-194 of this station have done good work in rescuing the above four fishermen.

In connection with the inaguration of Janamithry police station Mannanthala Conducted an awareness class on the subject Drugs in children was conducted by doctor from drug addiction centre and presented awareness drama at the auditorium of Anandavalleswaram Temple.

The Police Personnel of Poojappura Police Station and SPC cadets were jointly contributed wheel chairs and food to the disabled children’s of Poojappura Government Nrithalaya Hospital under treatment on 01-09-2017.

Theft at Airport: two attested by Valiyathura Police

Two loading and unloading workers at the airport who were arrested by Valiyathura PS on Thursday for stealing the valuables of a passenger have been remanded in custody. The Sameer of Sulaiman Street and Tom Fernandes of Rajiv Nagar, Shanghumughom, had been arrested on the basis of a complaint from a passenger that a gold bangle and mobile phones had gone missing on December 17 when he had come to board an Emirates flight to Dubai. The accused were produced in court on Friday and remanded in judicial custody.

The Medical College police on Friday(20.01.17) arrested a 40-year-old man, who had allegedly duped several persons after promising them jobs at Airport Cargo wing here as well as at Medical College Hospital. The police identified the accused as Sunil Kumar, 40, of Vellamkudi near Kallara under Pangode police station limits outside the city.

The accused often targeted people who visited Medical College Hospital. He would approach them introducing himself as a health inspector and offer them get jobs at Airport Cargo division and also in Medical College Hospital using his influence.

Besides duping money from his victims, the accused also tried to sexually exploit several woman, whom he trapped. He would secure their id proofs in the pretext of applying for jobs and then would check into lodges located near the hospital using those documents. He would then coax the women to come to the room or else he would inform their spouses that they were in an extramarital relationship. He would threaten to use the evidence of booking rooms using the women's id proofs as an evidence of their extramarital relationship. He recently tried to threaten the wife of an expatriate in this manner, but she promptly sought the help of the police. The police nabbed him from the lodge room.
