Kovalam Police Station

Opening of the station was on 29.5.1987. Opening of the police station notified in GO. Rt.1455/87/Home dtd 16.05.1987.The station took the areas from Thiruvallom and Vizhinjam Police Stations. It is under the circle of Vizhinjam in Fort Sub Division. The station will have under its jurisdiction the well known international tourist centre.
Boundary
On the south western side is the Arabian sea, on the north west side is the Kovalam–Pachalloor road leading from Vellar jn to the road of the beach near Samundra Hotel. On the eastern side is the Pachalloor-Vizhinjam road beginning from Pachalloor Jn. ViaVandithadam, west Poonkulam, Koliyoor, Muttakkad, Panangodu upto Venganoor Jn. On the south eastern side is the road from VenganoorJn to Vizhinjam theatre jn via Chudukadu road and on the Southern side is the road from Vizhinjam theatre jn to the VizhinjamIB via vizhinjam Harbour bye road upto the inside of the IB compound and finally cutting downwards from the porch of the IB into the Arabian Sea. The junction is the inclusive of the road mentioned above.

A view of Kovalam Beach
Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing.
